What is a Community Led Plan?

Community Led Plans lay out a shared vision for your community over the next 10 or more years and contain a detailed action plan for achieving this vision

Parish Plans, Neighbourhood Action Plans and Small Town Health Checks are all types of Community Led Plan - all reliant on the local community to define the issues to be tackled.

A Community Led Plan sets out how community action can meet local needs, can help to prioritise resources and can provide important information to help influence the policies, decisions and actions of others. Community Led Plans belong to the community, to be delivered by that community or in partnership with other agencies.

It is a process by which the whole community can voice their opinions on what actions they wish to see taken in their local area in the future. The Plan when completed may highlight actions which can be taken by community members, be of use to influence service providers such as your Local Authority, and act as evidence of need when applying for funding.

Community Led Plans should:

• be comprehensive, considering all aspects of local life including social, economic and environmental issues of concern to the community.

• involve the whole community; everyone should have their chance to have their say and get involved in producing a Community Led Plan.

• be based upon information provided by community participation, surveys and research.

• involve Local Authorities with the process.

• be focused on creating an action plan with a clear statement of Who? What? Why? And How?

How can we help?

As a rural parish in Hampshire you will be well aware of the advantages of putting together a Community Led Plan; indeed you may have already completed one, be working on one, or thinking about doing one. Community Action Hampshire can give you support with this.

Some of the things we can help you with are information, community consultations, networking, funding sources, prioritising and action planning.

If you have completed a Community Led Plan or Parish Plan - we would very much like a copy.
