Hampshire Local Involvement Network
Local Involvement Neworks (LINks) replaced Patient and Public Involvement Forums in April 2008. The purpose of a LINk is to:
- promote and support the involvement of people in the commissioning, provision and scrutiny of local health and adult social care services;
- obtain the views of people about their needs for and experiences of local health and adult care services;
- enable people to monitor and review the commissioning and provision of health and adult care services;
- convey people’s views to organisations responsible for commissioning, providing, managing and scrutinising health and adult care services and recommending how services can be improved.

Health Advocacy Partnership (HAP UK) hosts the Hampshire LINk
The County Council and Hampshire PCT awarded the Health Advocacy Partnership Ltd the contract to host Hampshire’s Local Involvement Network (LINk). The Health Advocacy Partnership is a not-for-profit company, which has formerly worked with Patient and Public Involvement Forums (PPIFs).
Local communities, groups, organisations and interested members of the public across Hampshire can now become involved in the planning and delivery of local health and adult social care services.
The Hampshire Local Involvement Network (The Hampshire LINk) has been established by parliament with statutory powers to give the people of Hampshire a strong voice to tell the council, NHS and service providers how their health and adult social care services locally can be improved.
The Hampshire LINk has been setting up its governance arrangements, and building its network of local contacts with councils, NHS, service providers, community and voluntary sector groups and interested individuals across Hampshire. Currently 300 have registered interest in being involved in local LINk activities.
The Hampshire LINk is professionally supported by HAP UK. Amanda Hames (South Hampshire) and Kat Hill (North Hampshire) support voluntary members and participants in the Hampshire LINk to carry out their planned activities.
The Hampshire LINk holds regular meetings in public around the county to give local people a chance to raise health and adult social care issues of local interest. Becoming a member of the LINk does not mean you have to devote a lot of time to get involved with the Hampshire LINk, but it does ensure your views can be heard by authorities responsible for health and social care services for adults. You can get involved simply by:
- visiting the Hampshire LINk website or
- e-mailing Hampshire LINk
